THE MASTERMIND AU MEME

THE MASTERMIND AU
AMBIDEX EDITION
With Round 3 now over, it's about time we had the mastermind meme!
To those who aren't familiar, this is essentially an AU where your character is the one responsible for Round 3's Mutual Killing Game, and all of the carnage that came with it, from the kidnapping to the motives to the trials to the executions! And now, they have chosen to reveal themselves before the remaining members of their class at the final trial!
As such, you are free to play around with this as much as you would like; did your character make a contract with Kyuubey, or did your character put everyone in the Killing Game for a different reason? What is your character's motivation for bringing despair? What do they intend to get out of this seemingly senseless killing? And what does the rest of the class have to do to stop the madness and go home?
There's probably going to be quite a bit of AUing from your character's original canon happening here to make them into the best harbingers of despair they can be, so feel free to go as nuts with it as you want to! And, of course, feel free to tag others with your character's reaction to their classmate's big reveal; it doesn't matter whether or not your character made it to endgame, have fun and mix up the survivor pool as much as you'd like!
Oh, and feel free to describe your character's sweet new Monobear-themed duds, too!!
Original meme text borrowed and modified from loveisanopendoor!

[He hopes she answers.]
...You're coming with us, right?

[As Harvey finishes the order, the rest of the class starts to vanish as they're teleported away. Not all of them are happy about it, predictably, but there they go.
Duster stays for now. They're having a conversation.]
There's folks there that can help 'em get back. Probably even keep all of you in contact. You don't need me to come.
no subject
He doesn't move any closer to Harvey when he's addressed.]
Why not? I'll explain what happened.
no subject
Kid...everyone I cared about is gone. I ain't got any home to go back to. It would've been better if you'd just left me dead.
no subject
You had us. You had Margaret. [He lifts the gun he had been holding the whole time. It's clear he has no idea how to safely carry the thing, but at least his fingers are nowhere near the trigger.] I don't have a world to return to, but that doesn't mean I don't have people I care about.
no subject
[Harvey looks faintly horrified by what's happening here - apparently flaunting your terrible gun safety is one way to distract him from spiraling into self-loathing. After indicating where the safety is, he pinches wearily at the bridge of his nose.]
Shit, right, I forgot about that. Damn it, and I was just gonna send you back - you want me to go check in on the place?
no subject
[Now he knows it doesn't shoot ghost bullets.]
Sure, you can come with me. If they really are alright, they can use someone from the past to help them out. [Someone who knows what the world used to be like that isn't brainwashed or have their memories stored in an egg.]
no subject
Aw, I'm not invitin' myself along, kid. I'll just hang around long enough to make sure I ain't droppin' ya into the goddamn apocalypse.
C'mon. [He starts back towards the bridge, expecting Duster will follow.] It'll be quick. This is a good ship, once you get the hang of it. I'll show ya how to make it go.
no subject
Ah, well. He'll follow Harvey and go on from there.] Sure thing. [When they enter the control room, he'll stop and take the time to get used to the place. He's never been inside a spaceship or anything this advanced, and for someone who was wondering how a washing machine worked eight weeks ago, this is one hell of a difficulty curve.]
Hm. [He walks up to the nearest control panel.] How do you pick which world to go to?
no subject
[He sends a rather brooding look at the nearest terminal.]
We used to have one that was alive, like a robot. She broke down years ago, a little before all this shit with me even started. Computer, plot a course back to Duster's universe.
Confirmed. Plotting a course.
It took a while to get the dimension stuff set up, but now it's all just about knowin' what to tell her.
no subject
[Maybe there's a map on those consoles? Time to investigate everything and poke at things that don't look like buttons or levels. There might be something interesting like a hidden item.]
no subject
[Harvey circles around to the captain's chair, but doesn't sit. He just stands and stares at it for a moment instead, before turning away to rub tiredly at his eyes.]
- gotta be honest, I ain't sure I remember how I did it. Things got pretty weird.
[There's not a whole lot to find on the console. It's a little more dented up than it used to be; Harvey obviously hasn't been taking much care with it.
On the very bottom, there's a loose panel with a sticky note on it. Don't forget to re-enable the self-destruct!]
no subject
He hides his face and refocuses on the console. It's more rustic than the computers he saw in the New Pork Tower, if he could call machines rustic. That note definitely catches his attention.
Self...
!!
He pulls that sticky note off the panel and bunches it up in his hand. Before asking Harvey about it, he checks the nearby panels for any button of sign that points to a self-destruct button. Because that's how it works.]
no subject
Yeah, that's what happens when you screw this kinda thing up. Spent a little while out there... [Harvey turns away to inspect a different control panel along the wall, pressing a few buttons. Really, it looks like he's just doing it for something to do that isn't 'engaging fully in conversation'.] Not a great time. Wouldn't recommend it.
[He glances up again, past Duster as a planet appears on the viewscreen.]
Well, at least the whole thing ain't blown up.
no subject
Not yet, right? [Wait, was Harvey talking about the ship or the world?] Uh. We're already here? [Whoops, haha. He steps up to the window eyeing the control panel. No big red buttons?
Oh, but that view is something strange.] I've never seen anything like this before!
[To look at his planet or the control panel? Both are important and Duster switched between looking outside and by Harvey's hands.]
no subject
[Harvey might be giving Duster a bit of an odd look. What's got him so squirrelly? Besides the obvious, but he's the one who had to stay on the ship with the mass murderer. He leans against the wall by the control panel, folding his arms.]
You folks don't have space travel?
no subject
[Is he going to fly off and blow up the entire ship? Can Duster convince him not to die this time? Harvey's giving him that Dad Look, and Duster knows he's going to crack at some point.
Opens mouth.
Closes it.]
...What were you doing back there? With the panel?
no subject
[Harvey arches an eyebrow.] Why?
no subject
no subject
[He pauses for a moment, lips curling into a small and bitter smile.]
And now I've got it. Ain't that ironic?
no subject
Ah.
[Now there was a possibility that the note was left by the original owner--no. Harvey would have cleaned up something so obvious. Something is going on.]
Yeah, to think you would end up getting possessed and doing all that...Say. What are you planning to do with this ship? Are you thinking of [What's a way to say this without being suspicious] remodeling it?
no subject
Remodeling it? [Harvey is definitely giving Duster an odd look.] How do you remodel a spaceship?
no subject
Add color? Move around the computers? [It has to be like remodeling a house.] Um. To make it look nice? You are going to keep this, right?
[And not blow it up?]
no subject
[Harvey looks around as if considering it. The place is pretty...well, gloomy, if you spend all your time in it.]
Honestly, I didn't really have any plans past you all killin' me.
no subject
[Duster's eyes widen when he realizes that he blurted out the question. Really? Of all times not to watch your mouth, you had to do it now?
He can't go back now.]
The note. By the computers. I didn't know there was a way to make this ship self-destruct. [He focuses on Harvey, not looking away for a moment.] Did you write that?
