NICK V. CN EDITION

It's time for Nick vs. CN's mastermind meme!

To those who aren't familiar, this is essentially an AU where your character is the one responsible for Nick v CN's Mutual Killing Game, and all of the carnage that came with it, from the kidnapping to the motives to the trials to the executions! And now, they have chosen to reveal themselves before the remaining members of their class at the final trial!

As such, you are free to play around with this as much as you would like; was your character just another pawn in the grand scheme of things, or did your character put everyone in the Killing Game for a different reason? What is your character's motivation for bringing despair? What do they intend to get out of this seemingly senseless killing? And what does the rest of the class have to do to stop the madness and go home?

There's probably going to be quite a bit of AUing from your character's original canon happening here to make them into the best harbingers of despair they can be, so feel free to go as nuts with it as you want to! And, of course, feel free to tag others with your character's reaction to their classmate's big reveal; it doesn't matter whether or not your character made it to endgame, have fun and mix up the survivor pool as much as you'd like!

Oh, and feel free to describe your character's sweet new Monobear-themed duds, too!!

[Magma - so much magma. It's so hot and threatening and well, at least it's not standing in an abyss with nothing to hold onto? That's all Aelita can think of as a plus, but there are still friends over there and a friend standing in the ice and snow like he's been pulling the strings all along -

No. No, she wouldn't believe it, no! Aelita had trusted him, worked with him, confided in him...it couldn't turn out like this!]

No...no, stop it! Stop it, Hakoda! This isn't right - this isn't the you I knew!

[Now Sokka looks irritated.]

You're supposed to be the smart one! My name's not Hakoda. I only picked that name because it's the name of a Southern Water Tribe war hero. He's was a really nice guy.

[Sounds ominous, no? He sits back down in his throne, the Monobear beside Sokka covering its mouth.]

Upupupu~ Seems the genius is stumped! Maybe we should turn up the heat!

No. I think she's toasty enough right now. Don't want to boil her to death just yet. She's probably wondering, just like all these other fools, about why I did it. How many tries should they get?

Seven! It's a lucky number after all!

[There's tears in her eyes, and she grimaces at the prospect of things heating up.]

I don't care - I don't care because whatever this is, I can't...I won't believe it's who you are. You are my friend. We were going to get out of this place together!

All that whining is really boring. If you're not even gonna guess, maybe I should just kill you right now.

[The Monobear shakes its head.]

That's too easy! They gotta play! They gotta!

..... You're getting really annoying. That's what I get for having that hulking mass of wishes animate you. Shut up or I'll do the same thing to you as I did to those Coaches.

[The Monobear goes quiet and stares at the ground. Seems that threat is enough to even make the terrifying Headmaster scared.]

I'll let you guess my real name, first. Seven tries.

[Aelita's hands ball at her sides. She didn't need seven tries - from the clues they'd gathered, she only needed one. Part of her wanted to keep screaming "Hakoda" until he'd had enough and roasted her alive, but...there were others here, on this side of the room. They'd be killed, too. She couldn't do that to them.]

...Sokka.

[It's said sullenly, bitingly. Reluctantly.]

You got it! Much better name than Hakoda! My dad's name is so stuffy.

[Of course he's going to applaud her. His "friend" got a guess correct!]

Your next guess involves this girl beside me. Now, I'm not showing you who it is. I'll let you know if you're hot or cold.

[Aelita looks at the girl, still processing his words. My dad's name is so stuffy. He was a really nice guy. She doubts he'll be as forgiving if she gets this one wrong, but...there were only two photos of girls that they found, and one of them had died too soon.]

...A girl who looks like you. One who's hope you want to destroy.

Right! All she does is go on, and on, and on about hope. So I had to find a way to make it stop. Hope doesn't exist here. Not for her, not for any of you. I made sure she'd be stuck in an endless cycle of despair. Why do you think she's as still as a statue?

[If Aelita remembers, Sokka has complained about this girl quite a bit. His dear little waterbender sister Katara. The reason he hates the word hope. Hates it more than anything now. ]

So what's her name?

[...She is wondering if that's it. If that's her name. But...if she's only in despair, does that mean she's still alive?

Her guess comes out more as a question of address than an answer as she looks right at the hooded girl.] Katara?

[Very, very much alive.]

Bingo! Katara, the last waterbender of the Southern Water Tribe. She was my sister, my friend, the person I trusted more than anyone. You'd think she'd be more grateful for me not killing her after everything that happened.

[He waves his hand dismissively.] I don't feel like telling you that story right now..... hmm... so which death was your favorite? As in filled you with more despair than you've ever felt before?

[She doesn't answer him right away. Instead, she looks right at Katara.]

Katara...please...don't lose hope...we'll get you out of here and help your brother somehow. I promise.

[She then sucks in a sharp breath through her teeth and looks right at Sokka, eyes bright and piercing.]

None of them. [Her words shake, but they have enough oomph in them to ring true.] The only death that could hurt me the most is the death of the friend I got to know and depend on in this dreadful place. And by the looks of things, all you're doing is drawing out the pain.

[As the statue is addressed, there seems to be a torrent of tears coming out of the eyes. Sokka pats Katara's stone cheek gently.]

I can never tell anymore if you're trying to waterbend yourself out or are legit crying.

[He replaces the cloak rather lovingly, covering his sister's face.]

Feels nice, doesn't it. At least to me it does... It's funny how people can trust others so blindly sometimes. A few gently words, long letters about solving the mysteries of this place, how you have to hang onto hope... You were pretty easy to lure into a false sense of security. I made some awful jokes, you thought I was easygoing. "Solved" the murders the way I did made me seem tenacious and smart... I just went from there..... Monobear, we need a new game.

[Monobear starts bouncing up and down.]

Upupupu~! Let's play "What Evidence is Real, and What Was Planted!"

No. I'm done with games.

[Her heart aches for Katara right now. No one deserves such a fate. No one in the whole world. Not even Sokka, for all he's done.]

You have a point to all of this. A reason. Let's get to it.

[The Monobear wags its finger.]

Ah ah ah! No can do, buckaroo! Remember, you get seven guess per question. So you have to play!

... I do have a reason. A big reason. And more little reasons. There's a lot. You might want to play if you want to find out just what I want from all this. Oh! [He points to something above them.] That fairy is up there. Can't help you at all, but I really hate hearing him ranting. So there's an incentive to playing the game.

[The Monobear nods.]

First guess! Can you tell me what was planted in the office? It was so touching and lovingly written! Too bad none of it is publishable.
