THE MASTERMIND AU
NICK V. CN EDITION

It's time for Nick vs. CN's mastermind meme!

To those who aren't familiar, this is essentially an AU where your character is the one responsible for Nick v CN's Mutual Killing Game, and all of the carnage that came with it, from the kidnapping to the motives to the trials to the executions! And now, they have chosen to reveal themselves before the remaining members of their class at the final trial!

As such, you are free to play around with this as much as you would like; was your character just another pawn in the grand scheme of things, or did your character put everyone in the Killing Game for a different reason? What is your character's motivation for bringing despair? What do they intend to get out of this seemingly senseless killing? And what does the rest of the class have to do to stop the madness and go home?

There's probably going to be quite a bit of AUing from your character's original canon happening here to make them into the best harbingers of despair they can be, so feel free to go as nuts with it as you want to! And, of course, feel free to tag others with your character's reaction to their classmate's big reveal; it doesn't matter whether or not your character made it to endgame, have fun and mix up the survivor pool as much as you'd like!

Oh, and feel free to describe your character's sweet new Monobear-themed duds, too!!

T-That lantern...needs fuel, doesn't it? And you have to keep it lit. Or else...or else someone you care about will die. Isn't that it? And so...

[Oh God, she can't even bring herself to say it. The others, their dead friends...did they really...?]

[Wirt lets the words hang there for a moment before he finishes Aelita's thought.]

That's right.

In order to fuel the lamp, I need the oil from the trees that grow in this forest. However, the trees only take root from something special: from someone who's given up and given in to despair.

Each time someone died, or murdered, they were overcome, and took root. Usually, I'd have to wait for others to wander into the forest and get lost. It. It's a really long and...unpleasant way of doing it.

But this way? I don't have to feel any sympathy for those who might give in.

Why wouldn't you?! You...you spent time with us, Wirt! We worked together! We talked to each other, I...I trusted you! I considered you a friend that I trusted with the things I learned! Do you not consider me a friend...?

[Wirt lets out a small, snarling sound as he looks at the ground again. It's hard to tell if it's born out of anger or out of shame, but anger follows closely on its tail at the very least.]

No. You all made your own choices here and most of you, when you had the chance, did decide to participate. No one actually made anyone kill anyone else; they're responsible for their own actions. They have to take responsibility for them.

T-That's not what I asked.

[She knows. She knows her friends chose to do what they did. But if he's the one responsible, and he put them here, then he's the one who limited their choices to that point. He's still at fault.]
